  • Background on Victoria Mansion, Portland, Maine:

    Also known as The Morse-Libby House, it was built between 1858-1860 for Ruggles S. Morse. The brownstone building was designed by Henry Austin of New Haven, Connecticut, with sumptuous interiors by Gustave Herter of New York City. A pristine example of Victorian opulence, the house is today a museum.
