@sosaysthelegend Even though I have only listened to Lights And Sounds for 1 1/2 years (I heard the singles Rough Landing Holly and Lights And Sounds when they first came out), I still feel that I've somehow listened to it longer. I feel like it's a record that I'm never going to forget. Paper Walls had the opposite effect. I liked it a lot at first, but it soon grew bland. As for their WYTTSY, I really loved it. Can't really say too much on it, but I have been addicted to it for some time now.

@sosaysthelegend That's a really interesting story. Looking back, I wished I had followed the band instead of forgetting them after Ocean Avenue. I didn't hear Lights And Sounds right when it came out because I was at an age (12 years old at the time of it's release) where I didn't really follow a band. The only music I was aware of was what was popular at the time. It wasn't until age 14 where I started to actually follow particular bands. I'm still glad I got to hear OA when it came out.

@sosaysthelegend So basically, L&S was epic and life-changing for me in a way that the last two albums haven't been. The ironic thing is that these albums are closer to what I originally wanted from them before I knew what they were fully capable of. My tastes evolved with that of the bands'. I understand the reasons for returning to an older sound, and I love all of what they do. I've learned from L&S to accept albums for what they are, so long as they're truly good.

@sosaysthelegend I wish it were longer. The new one's going to be 10 tracks as well. 'For You, and Your Denial' (which I was fortunate enough to see the first live performance of) is amazing and has had the same effect on me that 'Rough Landing, Holly' did in many ways. I often am more impacted by the power ballads or acoustic numbers at first ('How I Go' and 'Sing For Me'), but I think the ones that stick with me the most over time are those driving, melodic tracks that hit that perfect spot.

@sosaysthelegend ... the music I've written since than probably any other album has.
I agree that it's wayyyyy better than Paper Walls. PW is great for what it is. I actually think the songwriting and atmosphere on it is quite good. Something about the production bothers me, but that was the case with L&S too and I grew to like it. Not quite as much with PW. Sean told me once that PW was his favorite album, but that was before WYTTSY was released. I think WYTTSY might be better...

@sosaysthelegend ... the album was released. Yet I was upset, both leading up to it and especially once it came out, that they had departed from Ocean Avenue in many ways. Back then, I was more rigid in what I expected from a band I had come to love. L&S was eye-opening for me. I don't love all the songs equally, by any means, but it grew on me more than any album ever has. I couldn't stop listening to it even when I was largely disappointed with it. Since then, it's had more of an impact on...

@lifeisgood1013 Yep, L&S. I had the exact same experience as you with it. It was interesting though, because I've honestly never anticipated one album more than that. I was reading/listening/watching every possible interview I could find leading up to its release. I watched every video clip posted of them in the studio. I had the tracklisting memorized before it came out. I saw them play 'Holly Wood Died', 'Rough Landing, Holly', and 'Lights and Sounds' at Chain Reaction two months before...

@sosaysthelegend By the way, what is your opinion on Paper Walls and WYTTSY?
-
@sosaysthelegend Hm, I'm guessing Lights And Sounds? I bought that album about a year and a half ago (I was lucky to get one of the two copies at my local record store), and I'd have to say that the more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it. In fact, I actually enjoy it a lot more that Paper Walls, which everyone seems to think is so much better. Yeah, I know this may sound crazy, but I didn't really care much for Paper Walls. I did like some songs on it though.
