Karkin/Skarr Easy Tame Method

How to quickly and easily tame Karkin/Skarr, no MM spec, haste buffs or potions/elixirs required.

If you have lots of competition, it's probably better to stick to the standard tame tactics, as someone else will probably get the tame while you are getting the buff. You can camp on the buff rock (it doesn't disappear) while Eagle Eyeing the other spawn point.

* Just past the normal rock-jumping route up to Fireplume Peak, there's a second rock you can jump up with using an Updraft. This Updraft gives you a 100% haste buff called Convalescence of Winds.

* Pull Karkin/Skarr with a shot to tag or with just Tame Beast to trigger Fieroclast Barrage. WAIT until the Barrage is near completion, and then Deterrance and Tame Beast again.

Don't know when it was changed (perhaps 4.3), but this no longer works, as he will immediatly start casting a new barrage whenever you start a tame beast cast.

@zealvurte That's why you press Deterrence before the second Tame cast--so his barrage misses.

Actually u can just use a macro

/Deterence

/tame beast

n u dont need the haste buff

thats how i got him, works fine and you dont take a single hit

@Hybrid425 That depends on if you get lucky. If you don't, his spell will hit you after Deterrance fades but before Tame finishes, interrupting you. If you get lucky, and he misses, awesome :)

Dude when i come back to the position you are to tame it the buff goes off wtf...

@ViruS963 Don't go back to the "mainland" and you won't lose the buff. For the far spawn point, you can tame him directly from Fireplume (island). For the lower, closer spawn point (closer to the Molten Front entry etc), you have to hop down to be one little ledge away first. Either way is perfectly doable.

Today I took the haste buff, stood near the edge opposite of him and just tamed him. No detterance used :))))

You dont need deterence now just get haste buff and tame its that easy that go's for Skarr to.

Alright. I just now did this method no more than five minutes ago. It works. I was at the ledge he was at, I made sure I had my buff. Hit him with an arcane shot, immediately started taming and just when I was about to cancel the tame and click deterrence (right at the end of his barrage cast), he was tamed. So you can actually get the tame off without doing deterrence.

@FeralSheWolf You're ignoring his cast time and Deterrence duration. Using Deterrence before Tame Beast, means Deterrence will drop off before he finishes casting the new barrage (with his cast speed buffed or otherwise, as base times are the same). Barrage does miss on it's own fairly often though, so just FD and heal until it does.
