Chipmunks Roasting On An Open Fire

I wrote the words for "Chipmunks Roasting On An Open Fire" and recorded the audio in September of 1999. It is perhaps the poorest use of an Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster in the history of the Universe. In honor of the song's 10th anniversary, and because I have nothing better to do, I have created this music video. No actual chipmunks were harmed in the making of this video. Don't try this at home. Kids, don't play with fire!

In the interest of full disclosure, there is a song and album called "Chipmunks Roasting On An Open Fire" by Bob Rivers, the twisted genius who brought us "Walking Around In Womens Underwear." While there are interesting parallels between the lyrics of both songs, my lyrics were written the year before his album's release.

Great job !! (although disappointed at the lack of authenticity as you clearly should've had white eyebrows!) What's next ? - perhaps an Easter ballad - "Choppity-chop, see the Bunny hop" (into the fire)?

Hi E - so glad you liked it! Funny you should mention the white eyebrows. Just yesterday, I sent the Santa suit to a friend and noticed a white makeup stick to cover the eyebrows. Oh well, I need room for improvement for my next video...My best to you and your family!

Not too bad, but actually there was another version from even further back by Lauren Mayer. I had heard it on Dr. Demento in the early 90's. It starts with "Chipmunks roasting on an open fire..." but doesn't delve much further than that with the actual cooking of the rodents. Here's the first stanza:

Chipmunks roasting on an open fire

Jack Frost nipping at the gin

Yuletide Muzak drives shoppers insane

as people hustle in the din

I've been searching for this version, but it seems unavailable.
