Maybe if everyone knew the whole story the guy geting off the bird just saved someones freakin life and he went with lifeflight to help them. The guy was bleeding out and he was asked to go. The moral to he story is that the guy wrks for Stat MedEvac and it was a joke he flew with lifeflight. Ask questions before you cut people down.

I understand that reason for a LZ much more now! The area which is the supported by your rescue helicopter is much bigger as the area which is covered by our rescue helicopter. most times our rescue helicopter flies only 20 minutes (then is it very far away). The next rescue helicopter is for example in hannover. from my hometown to hannover it´s just round a bound 120 km. the other helicopter is in kassel located. to kassel it´s only 50 km. so you see in our area there are much helicopters.

my fire dept does the same, we do it to make sure the helicopter knows where it's landing to meet the ambulance because they're flying into the area from like 30 minutes away and might not know where to land, and we make sure they have no difficulties landing or taking off.

The fact of the rules i can understand. I hope i can film our rescue helicopter in action. Sometimes the rescue helicopter is landing on the street next to my house. i will do my best ;)

idk, We just have Firefighters set up a landing zone to better the landing of the helicopter. We have a lot of rules here on whare a helocopter can land and having a fd set up an lz can help them not break the rules and the fire dept. can clear the area of any people who are around the landing sight.

Why is this programm for a FD? Excuse my question, but i don´t have any knowledge of that system in us.

Point of a LZ is simple. To provide a safe and secure area free of power lines, holes, ditches, and other uneven surfaces. Along with hopefully providing a 100 foot by 100 foot area for the pilot to set down a multi million dollar aircraft. Remember, always aprroach an aircraft from the side never EVER the front and even more NEVER NEVER EVER from the back. This is specially true with a fully articulated head such as on a Sikorsky S-72.
