  • Some great shots! Like the FW190D9 almost ground looping on the water soaked strip! Didn't see anything on the TA-152? also some great footage of the captured 190, by the U.S.

  • @FWDORA9 hello mike..thanx awfully for the thoughtful comments,, my apologies that it appears there isnt a Ta152 here..alas film is scarce..howevel i hope the 190d images are some compensation!!..cheerzzzz

  • @spottydog4477 THX for loading this up. I would be also interested in any kind of documentation and more info regarding FW190 and 152 (Kurt Tank).

Could give some pointers or hints where to find those information please?

  • @tiredlight hi there, thanx for you kind words and interest in Tank...I'll have a look over my library of film and see if i can find something more...meantime do a thorough search off youtube - and keep checking in every few months as new materials are loaded up...but meantime if i have something - ill be sure to write!..cheers spotty

  • Thanks for this wonderful video.

-Priceless historical footage of the Junkers 88 & Germany's best fighters of WWII.

The spectacular waterlogged takeoff run appears to feature Focke Wulf's & Bf-109's.

2.33 is almost unwatchable -He nearly flips over !

  • @guthywoodry hi guthy thanx for commenting.....yes - isnt that scene of the 109's and 190's trying to get airborne is such horrendous conditions amazing! It soo difficult to find film of the long nosed 190D types which are feature in that clip..i suspect this was shot early '45....do you have any film of the 190D or can you point me to any clips yourself??..many thanx,,, john

  • Frame 2:32 is a big Prop Strike. It appears they cut and spliced another plane in its place.

  • Imagine if several were saved after the war and used as a race plane in Reno. I am sure it would have broken some serious records and given the Mustangs and Bear cats a hell of a run for the money. Too bad though.

  • I need to make a detailed 3d model of ta -152 and its jumo engine. This video helped greatly. Thank you

  • I very much doubt the 190 at 2:34 got off the ground. Her prop made contact with either the water or the ground as you can see the smoke puff from the rapid loss of revs. At the very least the prop would be out of balance.

The fan was geared a 3x propeller speed on wartime Fw190s with BMW 801s. Today, on the replica Fw190s equipped with the ASh-82 engine the fan being used is fixed and spins at propeller speed. The fan blade angles are ground-adjustable for various conditions. One replica has been re-engined with an R-2800 and I do not know if a cooling fan is being used at all, and it is the one having oil cooling issues.

  • Very interesting...never knew that the fan behind the prop was geared to turn much faster than the prop.Looks like a 10:1 ratio or more.No wonder some of the replicas are overheating without the fan installed.Excellent footage of a remarkable plane.

Reprints of flight and engine manuals for various versions are available from a few sources on the internet. (Not for free, though.)

I've heard that some rare color film of D-9s exists, but I think it's in a private collection. I suspect it's GI film of abandoned aircraft. I believe stills from the film appear in Jerry Crandall's books on the D-9s. I haven't bought them yet, but I plan to eventually.
