Ok, just to clarify, you can NOT hatch a chicken from a store egg as this egg has not been fertilized. Chickens may lay eggs all the friggin time but like humans they still have to "do it" for something to pop out. Ok?

@FearStriker100 Lol no silly i was just joking with you!!, lol the chickens that lay eggs for mass production are cooped up in shelters all there life and they never come into contact with hens "male chickens" All the eggs form the store are infertile. Chickens dont have to have sex to lay eggs....

@FearStriker100 ye you can easily hatch an egg from a store if you take good care of it

That chick heard Star Trek: TOS playing in the background, and hatched to watch it!

There are many sites on the web that discuss incubator design. I just made a box with provision for a tray to hold the automatic egg turner with room below for a fan, a heater and a pan of water. I got a cheap hygrometer and a couple of thermometers to monitor the humidity and temperature. I first used a "wafer" thermostat but found that I had to keep tweaking it depending on the barometric pressure. I ordered a PID controller from Auber instruments and now it works great!
