~January 1st, 2028, 5:00am, Hospital~
James: *holding the baby in his arms, crying*
Dr.H: Mr. Maslow...?
James: Just one minute, please?
Dr.H: *nods, walks away*
James: *kisses the baby's head softly, can't control his tears*
Dr.H: *walks back, rubs his shoulder* Don't do this to yourself, Mr. Maslow. This isn't healthy.
James: But-
Dr.H: We're gonna wake up your wife and give her some time with the baby, okay?
James: *nods, hands her the baby*
Dr.H: *wakes up Nicole* Mrs. Maslow?
Nicole: Hmm? *looks at the baby* What's wrong with the baby?
Dr.H: *silent*
Nicole: *looks at her* Well?
Dr.H: *hands her the baby*
Nicole: *looks down at the lifeless baby, then at James* James?
James: *sits next to her and kisses her head*
Nicole: *starts crying*

~February 14th, 10:00am, Maslow residence~
Nicole: *laying in bed*
James: *comes in quietly, lays down next to her*
Nicole: *silent*
James: *whispers* I know you're awake. *rubs her back*
Nicole: *silent*
James: Happy Valentine's Day, sweetheart. *kisses her neck*
Nicole: *feels tears running down her face*
James: *cuddles with her* Shh, don't cry.
Nicole: James, I don't feel well. I just wanna be left alone.
James: *sad* Okay, well let me know if you need anything. Love you.
Nicole: Love you, too.
James: *leaves*
Nicole: *cries harder*
Shane: Is mom gonna be okay?
James: *nods* She just needs time to heal.
Shane: Are you gonna be okay?
James: Yea.
Shane: Are you two gonna get a divorce?
James: Why would we get a divorce?
Shane: You guys have been fighting a lot lately.
James: We're not getting a divorce, Shane. Don't worry. *pats his back*
-Later-
Nicole: James, did you ever call the plumber yesterday?
James: What?
Nicole: I asked you to call the plumber yesterday...
James: I'm sorry, I totally forgot.
Nicole: *sighs, gets the laundry basket filled with laundry* I'm going to Katelyn's, then. *leaves*
Shane: I hate seeing you fight like this. *walks into his room, slams the door*
-Later-
Nicole: *comes home with the laundry* Hi.
James: Hun, I called the plumber. He said he could come tomorrow between one and two-thirty.
Nicole: Thank you, James. *hugs him* I'm sorry for being in a bad mood.
James: *kisses her* I understand.
Nicole: I have a surprise for you!
James: Really?
Nicole: *nods*
James: *kisses her*
Nicole: *kisses back, then pulls away* Get dressed. We're leaving at five-thirty. Wear something nice. *runs upstairs*
James: *follows her*
Nicole: *looking through her closet*
James: *wraps his arms around her waist, whispers* The purple one.
Nicole: What?
James: *pulls out a purple dress* Wear this. I always thought you look gorgeous in purple.
Nicole: *wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him passionately*
James: *gives her an eskimo kiss* I love you.
Nicole: I love you, too. *smiles*
