The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings "Do What Is Right" during the Saturday morning session of the 178th Semiannual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held at the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah in October 2008.

"Do What Is Right" Hymn #237

1. Do what is right; the day-dawn is breaking,
Hailing a future of freedom and light.
Angels above us are silent notes taking
Of evry action; then do what is right!

[Chorus]
Do what is right; let the consequence follow.
Battle for freedom in spirit and might;
And with stout hearts look ye forth till tomorrow.
God will protect you; then do what is right!

2. Do what is right; the shackles are falling.
Chains of the bondsmen no longer are bright;
Lightened by hope, soon theyll cease to be galling.
Truth goeth onward; then do what is right!

3. Do what is right; be faithful and fearless.
Onward, press onward, the goal is in sight.
Eyes that are wet now, ere long will be tearless.
Blessings await you in doing whats right!

Text: Anon., The Psalms of Life, Boston, 1857

    My favorite verse!

  • I like how this hymn is titled, "Do What Is Right", not, "Don't Do What Is Wrong". When you do what is right, you naturally gain the strength to withstand the temptation to do what is wrong.

    Thank you for sharing this beautiful music :)

  • The devil himself was master of music... Make sense that these little deceivers sound so beautiful... God help them..

  • Ignore and continue to do what is right. The reward is incalculable. You've already won.

  • @vivisect86 (continued) above the majority of others. So to answer your statement. Gays have every right any other citizen has. Marriage isnt a right its a privilage.

  • @vivisect86 They still have their equality, but giving people what is talked about in the constitution is not supporting all their views. No one has come out and said to kill of all gays or lock them up, they can still live as normal citizens but being as how this country is a republic and "partially" run by the voice of the people, when the majority of us citizens are opposed to gay marriage that means that if you allowed it anyways you would be disrupting equaility but placing their desires

  • KeepEm commin'! I love to hear these hymns, and, most of all, I love singing them and sharing them with my close friends. This music is spiritual medicine. Thank you for everything you share and shine. I think God smiles on us every time we do this. We all need a little uplifting and inspirational music everyday.

  • @bigq9008 Nobody likes to be belittled. Jesus taught us all to love one another as Jesus loved us. I hope that as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we can strive to always set an example of Christian compassion and understanding. Do what is right!

  • MAKE MY DAY GREAT
