The Dhamma Brothers tells a dramatic tale of human potential and transformation as it closely follows and documents the stories of the prison inmates at Donaldson Correction Facility who enter into this arduous and intensive program. This film, with the power to dismantle stereotypes about men behind prison bars also, in the words of Sister Helen Prejean (Dead Man Walking), "gives you hope for the human race." http://www.dhammabrothers.com

I think it's interesting to note that the reason isolation is often a form of punishment in prisons is that prisoners cannot control their own minds. Their own minds become the instrument of torture.

This is true with most of us really; if left alone our minds are so messed up they actually begin to harm us.

But, send a very competent meditator into 'isolation' and they would be thanking the guards for the opportunity to rest their mind and to skillfully investigate it more deeply ;-)

that's right - being face to face with yourself is the most difficult thing for most people, in and out of prison. This is the why and the wherefore of drugs and every other kind of distraction - avoidence of self, of feelings, and thoughts, and rage, and pain.

Buddha has nothing to do with god and Buddhist except the zen set do not believe in a supreme being more of a oneness with the universe don't confuse it with Jesus and god but you may practice Buddhism and worship god .Just know the difference but I respect the inner peace you have found continue to search and experience love thru oneness .Eternal peace and love is the one goal

I have meditated for 4 years now and its hard to explain what it does to you.All the negativity, hatred and revenge just stops having an influence and you start to think positive.Evil stops having a grip on you and evil is easily ignored.People insult you and its laughable because you just know they are stuck in that negative way of thinking that you used to be in.You are happy so its hard for anybody to break it.

It is a good movie. I like what the officer said in the movie:"Every human being is worth more than the worst thing they’ve done". It is important to understand the suffering these prisoners went through, to have compassion for them and believe in their potentials.
