Grappler with one leg displaying a textbook arm bar transition. Regardless what people say I am the first amputee to fight MMA. I first was in rage in the cage in 2001, my second fight was in 2006 in both I won by submission. My first sanctioned fight was in 2009 in which I also won by submission. Some are confused and have falsely stated that I am not the first amputee to get in MMA. So I am here to tell those people the truth, I am. If anyone can prove me wrong I will happily retract my statement thank you.

  • at the moment or any time soon. Could be a set back for both of us........ but hey you never know. I have seen stranger things happen.

  • I walk around at 135, have and will fight at 145 and 135. My Ideal fight weight is 125 though, it's ok they are just building that weight class now. And third, I believe that Nick and I are against making a special division for us to fight in. We are both just getting started in the world of MMA. We are proving that we are not disabled or handicap. Even though some may say we are. Fighting able bodies proves that we are just as able. I don't believe it will be good for either of our careers...

  • Hey @Bulldog, Nick Newell is his name yes. It would be a interesting fight, I agree. There are some problems with that though. For one I am Nick's friend and I don't like fighting friends........ Look I'm not saying I haven't fought a friend one day to become better friends the next. The only difference between Nick Newell vs I is we both would get paid for it. Second we are in different weight classes. I don't know what he walks around at but Nick fights at 155.

  • You guys are awesome, thanks for the support.

  • And here I thought he'd be in the karate section... A little too hopeful

  • Peter Verschuren of Holland only had one hand. he fought mainly in Holland during the late 90's and early 00's. Think he was from the Kamakura Dojo, though i could be wrong.

  • great job matt! must be hard with your leg like that, but you adapted really well and you show that you arent a pushover!! congrats :)

  • nice arm bar. it would be a cool fight to watch, you vs the one armed fighter nick newell i think his name is. two people who have over came alot with similiar but different situtations.
