Puppy Panties

Blizzard the husky mix puppy was recently neutered, and has gone through SEVERAL e-collars in his determination to lick his sutures and give himself an infection. Someone suggested boxer shorts as a way to keep him from licking himself. Much to no one's surprise, least of all my own, the shorts made it about 10 minutes in Blizzard's crate before he got them off and shredded them, but it seemed worth a try. Here's the video of a newly be-shorted Blizzard trying to figure out what is on his butt and how he can get them off.

You mean, before this video or after? Before, as the video description says, he had just been neutered, and he was trying very hard to lick and bite at his incision, which causes infection. After, we gave up on the shorts, bought him a longer e-collar, he eventually healed up and was adopted by a nice couple with another husky for him to play with. They spoil him pretty good and he is expected to live happily ever after.

Poor pup, it's gotta drive him nuts. When I got mine neutered the only thing I could do to keep him from licking the incision was to spray his belly and that area with the 'Bitter Break' stuff, it's a natural chewing/licking deterrent and my vet said it was safe to spray the incision with. I actually just used it on my cat for her spaying also and it worked just as well. That might be something for you to try next time you have a pet that wont stop because I went through two e-collars with mine.

Are the shorts a real treatment? I don't see how that could possibly be effective. It's very humorous though. My cat was coned before and the result was completely different. Just shut down and moped around and licked the inside of his cone incessantly.
