People should receive drug/alcohol tests prior to getting Food Stamps. People should also have criminal background checks. Food Stamps should only be immediately available for Elderly folks, disabled folks, and for mothers who are honestly struggling, but trying, instead of being lazy or drinking/doing drugs.

My own brother is 34, a food stamp scam artist. The other day he begins bragging about his Food Stamp card. He casually says that he doesn’t really need the Assistance (“but hey, I qualify, so what the hell”). He explained how he loves to buy luxury foods and how he used $80 worth of government money to make a “raw” pie. Yes, one pie. He basically admitted to us, without shame, that he’s abusing the welfare system...keep in mind, this is a person who is 34 and able-bodied, just lazy as shit.

I payed my way through college, i have a bachelor's degree, the economy sucks, i have three jobs now that are on the same level as the shit i worked in high school after getting laid off.

I shop for my needs, NOT wants. Store brand, coupon this and that, etc.

I have seen people at Kroger come out of Escallades, Mercedes, etc, and get a cart full of crap like wings, ice cream, snacks, and more.

And then I have to wait for their food stamp card to go through.

Why you ranting and raving about Food Stamps. You got a child atleast you get a fat ass tax refund. I don't have any kids, don't get any assistance, and no big fat ass tax refund. Now you know people who got kids clean up at tax time.

Unfortunately we are part of the working poor! Make to much to qualify for anything, but only making enough to pay bills. Shit I wish I could go to the grocery store and spend 200 a month, I barely skate by on 150 a month for groceries and I have a 17 yr old son (No child support). Oh well! I guess I'm blessed to have to have a job and a roof over my head in a descent part of Los Angeles. I wonder how much her bill was!
