International Year of Astronomy Mural by the boys from O'Connell's National School Dublin

A series of still images telling the story of a mural painted by the children of 5th class from O'Connell's Boys National School in Dublin City . Deirdre Kelleghan spoke to the children about the project and this is the result. The mural was initiated by Sarah Jayne Reid , the school were very supportive to the whole effort.

Deirdre held lunar and solar viewing sessions at the school to give the children some personal awareness of these objects.

Wonderful children , fantastic ideas , great spirits, every single one of them.

@swasbasu1 Glad you have good memories , I loved doing my talks and telescope evenings . I enjoyed painting the International Year of Astronomy logo on the mural. I was very very impressed with the finished work being so close to the drawings produced after my talk. Really enjoyed the boys and all the fun . Deirdre
