In the United Kindom , do you need a licence to have a pellet gun? Over here in Canada you need a licence (PAL) if your pellet gun shoots over 500 fps.

This video is so boring that it make gloss paint look like fun.
The test was rubbish.
Talk about long and drawn out, I couldn't bear to finish the video.

(cont'd) I'm unsure of the legislation where you live, but in my experience I would not suggest shooting anything but small birds, if that, with any less than an 800 fps rated pellet rifle. The 1000fps+ .177's or 800+ .22's in my opinion are far more humane and effective, getting ample penetration even on larger creatures like Groundhogs, Raccoon, and the likes. Using a 600 fps pellet rifle for anything larger than a bird will require deep penetration, and will not work very well.

I'm sorry but this video seems a bit unfocused and makes little sense to me. Mentioning the consideration for tests as well as humane shots is admirable...but to use pellets from a .177 without giving us an idea of the fps isn't very helpful. Furthermore; four layers of tanned leather is far beyond the resistance of any game suitable for a .177, .22, or .25 pellet.
For small game even up to rabbits, penetration will be adequate with an adequate pellet rifle. (cont)

@gunvidder a friend told me that tin pellets, the soft ones are poisonous if they penetrate your skin and you mustn't eat a bird if it has been pierced with a tin pellet. Is this true? answer me asap cause i' ve eaten a bird with a tin pellet inside ( i put it out before eating)

@ronofontario No license needed if it dose not have a muzzel energy of more than 12 ft Lbs (foot Pounds) So it is not based on velocity but the energy put in to the pellet. Otherwise You could make a .50 cal pellet gun at 500 fps and do some real damage. For an air pistol it is an energy limit of 6 foot pounds, over that and it becomes a banned hand gun as we can not have hand guns at all any more in the UK. Higher power air rifles can be owned but come under the Fire Arms License rules.

@ddkntc4lyfe Hobbies arn't that bad, I have found heavier flats seem better though. Saying that,, good for short range especially as they are cheaper than a few others that have no accuracy gain. I'm south of B'Ham.
