"Sleigh Ride" was written as an orchestral piece in 1948 by Leroy Anderson and became an instant hit when it was recorded on monaural 45 and 78rpm vinyl records by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops in 1949. Words were later added in 1950 by Mitchell Parish, and is often mis-referred to as "Sleigh Bells", as the lyrics begin "Just hear those sleigh bells jinglin', ring ting tinglin' too".... Since it's beginning, it has become a holiday standard. This original 1959 "Pops" stereo re-recording is provided courtesy of Universal Music Group.
