When you drink, whatever, you as character are not aware of the subtleties that exist that your body goes through. You as actor are aware and through physical movement be able to reproduce the movement and make it look real.

@ImperialUSA I agree that you shouldn't be doing sense memory "exercises" on stage per say, but to be more specific, your creative work on stage should be filtered through your sense memory always. It's the basis of our work, so instead of focusing only on the scene and the lines, focus on the reality you are creating and filter the scene through whatever that reality is in the moment. The more real you make the situation to yourself, the more real your moment to moment work can be

@ActingSchoolStop the thing is to become the character so much u can improvise and still talk the way the person would talk and act, right ?

@yoe91 Nope :3 I just clicked the first video I saw in my "suggestion" box. I wanted to test something that I downloaded for Youtube comments xD Sorry if it offended </3
What possible use can sense memory actually have on the stage? How does remembering what a cup of coffee feels like enable you to tell the story of the play better, while fully giving into the circumstances?

@ImperialUSA This is an exercise to sharpen your senses and improve your concentration as an actor when you work on your craft. Sense memory exercises are not really something you would do on stage. Once you're performing, you have to be in the moment and as you mention, the focus should be on telling the story and living the circumstances.
