@dikkesappe Vieira was just a pure central midfielder. 4-4-2 with him and Gilberto bossing the middle. Gilberto was more defensive than Vieira, but Vieira was not really an attacking midfielder. He made goal bound runs from time to time though.
Pires and Ljunberg on the wings made more attacks while Vieira was concerned with possession. He was the first line of defense and first line of attack. Goalbox to goalbox. And he did it with a perfect combination of grace and power.
