This CBC TV Ottawa news segment aired on January 5th, 2011.

In November 2008, EcoTraction was featured on CBC Dragons' Den and received substantial support from Canada's wealthiest entrepreneurs.

Earth Innovations Inc., the company that manufactures and distributes EcoTraction, is based in Ottawa but despite the fact that the product is now being distributed in over 5000 stores in North America, CBC reports that the City of Ottawa has yet to do a trial of the product.

EcoTraction founder Mark Watson says that he lined up a grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to underwrite the trials but that officials weren't interested since they have not yet moved forward. CBC reports that Ottawa uses about 177,000 tons of road salt per year, more than any other cities in Canada.

City of Ottawa Councillor David Chernushenko is interviewed and says he'd like to see an independent evaluation of the Ottawa product. He says: "We can make an evaluation on 'A' does it work. 'B' how much does it cost. 'C' is it available in the quantities that we need. We can then make a decision on it."
