Guitar legend Les Paul passed away recently in White Plains, N.Y., from complications of pneumonia. He was 94 years old. Paul changed the course of music and helped bring about the rise of rock and roll with the electric guitar and multitrack recording. "Three-time GRAMMY winner Les Paul was a musical mastermind whose innovations in electric guitar and recorded music are unparalleled," said Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow. "A 1983 Trustees Award recipient and a 2001 Technical GRAMMY Award recipient, his career and contributions to popular music will forever be celebrated, and will continue to influence future generations of musicians. His magnetic charm and sunny disposition matched his incredible skill set, and he will always be remembered with great fondness, humility, and respect. The music industry has lost a true innovator and legend."

  • Bless Les Paul.. He's well missed in the music world..

  • @forzaudinese124 You just proved your own point

  • @forzaudinese124

we both realize the same thing!!!

  • thats when talented entertainers with class were still amongst us. We love you Les.

  • @EasyAce 1959 = 50 years ago. Or 1970-ish, which is around 40 years ago. Few non-musicians under 45 years old have heard of him. That's not a knock on LP, that's just a fact.

Don't misunderstand LP was The Man. But he's a guitar player's guitar player.

  • @forzaudinese124 I sympathise with what you think you saw on the clip in question, and with the dichotomy of a Les Paul getting less than a Michael Jackson . . . but Les Paul didn't just get two minutes---he got Jeff Beck and Imelda May whipping out "How High the Moon" in his honour.

  • @ahz123 No one knows who Les Paul was except for guitar players? Tell that to a few million people who bought his records from about 1948-59, quite a few of whom probably didn't try picking up a guitar but just loved the music. Or to the couple of million who bought "Chester & Lester" in the 1970s. Or to anyone who ever stepped into a recording studio---guitar player or otherwise---and knows who the father of multitrack recording really was.

  • @forzaudinese124 SO AGREED im subscribing to you man les paul never got so much attention and he did everything for the industry and les paul also made the Gibson Les Paul Guitar and pre recording...Cheers Les

  • anyone who plays electric guitar owes these men a ' thank you '.

  • @forzaudinese124 - no one knows who Les Paul is except for guitar players.
