What I saw was what looks like a homeless bum with a deck of cards conveniently move them off screen when your crap routine was at it's anti-climax.

unfortunately as the movement is made is blatently obvious at least that something is going on. this defeats the whole objective of the pass.
you might as well quickly put on a clowns outfit, took a 100 meter run up, pulled off a triple backward somersault whilst screaming 'i am controlling the card! i am controlling the fucking caaaarrrddd!!!!!'.

It doesn't matter how good a performer you are, your movements must be justified for the audience. If he is moving back and forth for no reason it's unjustified and will look weird.
