Thank you for posting this delightful Jenks Tex Carman performance. "The Girl I Loved in Sunny Tennessee" was a big hit in 1899. Jenks altered the melody much as The Carter Family, Uncle Dave Macon, and other early country artists revised 19th century parlor songs to suit their individual styles. Jenks Carman was, in fact, as much a performer of both folk songs and 19th century pop hits as were the Carters and Uncle Dave, and was an effective yodeler and a charismatic instrumentalist. I can't find any information on this guy. I can't even find a biography of him. Sad isn't it that people don't know about this great talent.
