@DummyTalkDOTcom Yes I knew his name and he was my favorite too. I couldn't get enough of his act and I think it was the canceling of Soap (plus I had enough of the other crap) that made me keep the tv off for the first time for a long time to come.

@ISamuelII , That would be Jay Johnson. He was performing a one man show on Broadway called "The 2 and Only". He has always been my personal favorite Ventriloquist and the characters he did of Chuck and Bob on the series "Soap" were hilarious.
