Actually, we were arrested to challenge an arbitrary law imposed by Columbus Police on peaceful demonstrators. SOA Watch, contrary to what the police said, did not agree to these terms and, in fact, asked us to carry the crosses in as a legal challenge to this silly ordinance.

After all, how is a wooden cross a threat in front of a military base with thousands of armed police officers?

You're lucky they even let you demonstrate there at all with your attitude. They didn't have to let you, the Supreme Court says its not a violation of your rights to regulate the "time, place, and manner" of demonstrations/petitions. The fact they didn't cart them off to jail as soon as they blocked the street shows just how kind the officers were.
