There is nothing inherantly dorogatory about being an animal wether we are animals or not would be a scientific classification not the meaning most people associate it with in any case it doesn't mean anything in the way of acceptable behavior. Even though there are some absolutes science and many other areas are largly a process of adding decible places of certainty being 90% sure 99.9%, 99.9999999 or so meaning proving something past a threshhold is more than enough. Think about it.

How does the theoretical common ancestry of life have to do with metaphysics or how someone can determine right and wrong, those that think evolution means we can just do what we want or that our life has less purpous has far bigger problems than the topics being discussed. The fact that some people are able to equate things like this is dangerous or more than that.

I don't personally subscribe to the theory of evolution but saying any creature is an ancester of us doesn't make it not true. Wether we are decended from a weird creature or not is determined by evidence and what case can be made for it not by how astheticly obsurde it seems. Evolution is not what creature decended from another but a process of creature spliting off from one another or common ancestry causing branching.
