My question is at the beginning, what was Nathan Fillion signing? Autographs? or was he pranking with Alan?

Autographs. They gave signed photos and stuff to everyone who asked a question- the only guests I saw do that. At that panel they signed a bunch of small cards, and at the end Nathan just tossed them out into the audience.
