Prison inmates talk about Transcendental Meditation and it's effect on their daily lives.
Transcription:
Inmate #1: I changed a lot. I changed a lot, from when I first got incarcerated. I took a good look at myself. But once I started meditating [Transcendental Meditation], it just went through the roof, and I'm a lot more calm. I used to fight a lot, now that I've been meditating, I'm a lot more calm, and nothing angers me like it used to.
Inmate #2: Several years ago I went through very much a crisis, and I was having a problem not being able to connect with people emotionally, and just was really flabbergasted when I kept having friends that left. I'm doing a life sentence, so, I'm used to seeing people to leave, but those closest to me as they start leaving and I stay here, it really just devastated me, and I just couldn't handle it.
Inmate#3: I don't ever want to come back to a place like this, and in that flyer, it said you know, it talked about improvement of health and blood pressure, I have a little bit of high blood pressure, and borderline hypertension, and I thought you know that that'd be a great benefit, if I could improve my blood pressure. But the biggest part was that I saw it as a tool of never coming back to a place like this.
Inmate#2: The thing that resonated most deeply with me was the just the chance at being happy. I hadn't realized for how many years -- I always thought I had a low grade depression- but it really was, probably ever since ten years old, I just really had been miserable with being myself. So I really came to, in just this last month I felt so much energy it's been amazing (laughs).
@Cali4yaDreaming no-one knows if true sociopaths can be helped by practicing TM or anything else. Fortunately, those are very rare. Ironically, they are probably more rare in prison than outside, because sociopaths tend to be very smart at concealing what nasty people they really are.

This is so incredible. I can't thank the teachers and the legal teams responsible for this enough!

A very inspiring and moving video. At the heart of life, everyone is good, we are all human. Despite horrible behaviors these folks can be rehabilitated and this meditation seems to be one method.
