  • Where did you get the blue led kit? My local cb shop has never heard of that mod.

  • @tommyjdj

Not a kit. I put this together on my own. You'll need 6, 3mm leds for the buttons and 2, 5mm leds for the display. You will also need 1 or 2 resistor in series with the 5mm leds depending on your rci version to cut the voltage to them.

  • @stresstest

I've got the same 2950 as you. What voltage 5mm and 3mmm did you use?

    Radio looks good!

  • @piersuk1

Blue is typically rated at a max of 3.6 forward volts. This is why you need the resistor for the 5mm LEDs. The tap from where the bulbs are is straight 13.8v so you need to knock it down. As far as the buttons they are already placed with LEDs so you dont need to add anything other than the color LEDs you want there.

  • I have the same radio from back in the 90's but I have the RX-100 on the back of mine.. works great and NO drift on SSB like the new RCI's... by the way I don't think they sell the RX-100 amp anymore,,,, GREAT RADIO Stresstest....

  • @radioguy67

Thanks man. I do not remember the 100. Course I left the scene for 10 years and just made my return Jan 10. So I probably missed it. Make a video of it and shoot me a message here. I'd like to see it.

Also, I never put this one on the Bird so I will up a new video of it probably tomorrow. Thing that bothers me most is the "techs" that do upload videos never show the voltage they are running at or they are a video of it ina car running. I like to do my videos right at 13.8v !

  • Stresstest, mine is the org. 2950 just with the RX-100 on it.. They only make the RX-75's now.. I think they can do about 80-90 watts on ssb but I wouldn't do it these days.. they don't make things like they did year's ago..lol,, nice blue lights on your radio. If you sell that radio what would you buy?

  • i have the same radio i got it back in 93 im going to look into getting one of these
