This male American turkey was coaxed out of the woods by a fighting purr call which is a noise made by one male turkey to challenge another male. He quickly left his group of hens the first time I made the call to him and continued to challenge me every time our paths crossed on the golf course where I work. I learned quickly not to turn my back on him or show signs of backing down. He hung a spur neatly in my rear end the one time I turned my back on him. His aggression ceased once his hens became receptive to mating.
