from her 1997 concert at the Rainbow Room in NYC. You'll notice she sings the first verse softy which is the way she wanted to perform the song. Clive Davis who was the head of Arista (Melissa's label at the time) wanted her to belt it out as only she can. He won the argument and this became one of Melissa's top hits. The song was written by Peter Allen. The circus was in town when his father died so he composed this song.

Well, the video doesn't seem to working. But at least I got to here the amazing Melissa Manchester. She is truly a one of a kind talent (and lovely, lovely lady). And this is one of her most beautiful renditions of the classic Peter Allen song. Thanks a lot for sharing it with us! :)

well....what can i say? after reading your billing of this act on the comments thread of the elke brookes version, i was expecting to be knocked senseless when i checked her out. she sounds like an elkie brookes tribute act for pensioners, that is, for the hard of hearing and fuzzy eyesight.
