In August 2007 our wobbler Quarter Horse, Copper Kid, suffered a terrible set-back with his neurological condition and could barely walk. We rushed him to the vet clinic and then to a veterinary teaching hospital for surgery, but unfortunately surgery was not an option. So we had no choice but to bring him back to the sanctuary and see if he could recover on his own. And he did. This video shows how he is today, in June 2008. To see what he looked like before, watch the video clip from last August: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0aTJFfUnaeA

  • @AppyArt It's usually only prevalent in the front feet when it's paddling.

  • @Lexnaulaaprillia "...sometimes swinging out ward circles with it when he walked." My mare does this with her front left leg. It is called 'Paddling' and is actually common in some breeds such as the Andalusian. It doesn't cause any problems, and isn't anything to worry about; it just looks funny, lol. Just thought I would help out where I could, ^^

  • Where are you located? He probably really should be a well cared for pasture pet and not be ridden for safty reasons. He still loves you to go jogging with him like a dog. Do you know of any reputable lifelong rescues or animal santuarys in southern oregon or northern california? Just incase my hubby and I deside to have kids and then could not afford my very loved and well carred for pasture pet.

  • he fell while I was lunging him had a slight limp that got better. So a year later I started riding him lightly. I was cantering one day and he tripped did a summer salt and fell on and broke my ankle. I had the vet out a couple of months later he passed the lameness tests but not the neurolocical ones. He passed the EPM test. He said I could ride him if I felt safe, at least he wo'nt loose to much muscle. I do'nt feel safe, but he's my baby and he loves to get out on careful slow rides.

  • This is such a happy video, I love it. Please tell me if he is still doing good or not??? The vet thinks my friesian andalusian cross probably has some form of wobblers. He fails the neurolocical tests and passes the lameness ones. He's slowly gotten worse. I got him at 7 months and he is now a little over 3 yrs. At a1.5yrs. started noticing one rear hoof growing a little crooked, and sometimes slightly swinging out ward circles with it when he walked. Around the same time....

  • :) Glad to see he's doing better
