You will need to begin to carry a small wooden mallet, as that was the common method for NCOs to attach, and remove the skewer from the end of a soldat's weapon.
BTW: That C-96, what calibre is it?

Strangely enough, I have a good bayonet. I am now able to attach it and detach it easily by hand. It just took a little practice.
The C96 is 9mm, and I understand property of the DDR.

Yes, I try to pick good names for all my rifles. I also have "Zofia" a Hungarian M95 stutzen. My collection is still small, but it grows quickly.
