1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken, cracked, damaged, slow-moving, or stuck power window regulator and motor. This video is applicable to 1991-2001 Ford Explorer, 2001-2003 Explorer Sport, 2002-2005 Explorer Sport Trac, 1991-1994 Mazda Navajo, and 1997-2001 Mercury Mountaineer models. This is a pretty easy repair for the do it yourself person.

  • The regulators went bad in both of the front doors of my '96 Explorer and the mechanic told me it would be around $600 to replace and install new regulators ($211 each...$85/hr labor). I bought t wo used regulator ($40 each) and was able to replace them by watching this video. Thanks, the instructions were excellent!!

  • @creepulkins Thanks for checking us out. We carry those regulators for Explorers for not to much more than what you had paid, ours are brand new with a 2 year warranty also. Available at 1aauto.com

  • what if you're replacing the regulator with a used window regulator.. The used one doesn't have the brace that connects to the window. what kind of bolts will you need to reconnect the bolts you knocked out to free the regulator from the window?

  • @creepulkins You would have find some bolts to connect the regulator to the door with. If it fails on you we carry brand new ones on our website 1aauto.com. Complete with a warranty and free shipping.

  • is this what i need to do if the window wont go up or down and inside the door there is a cable thats hanging loose

  • @wow700 If your window regulator has broke, then yes this is the procedure on how to fix it. We sell them on our website 1aauto.com

  • Great Info ! Now I need to do both of mine. Thanks

  • Used this for my ford windstar, same regulator! Thanks for the video!

  • the "think" you drilled into in the beginning, that thing is actually out of place from the slider in the track. Any ideas on how to get it back in? I tried hammer, pliers, etc... the thing is so damn tough to get in.

  • my motor went out when window was completely down. What should I do?

  • so on my explorer the window motor went bad and i pulled the regulator and then tried to get the motor off i unbolted it and i wouldnt come off so i took a flat head and got it off but it was spring loaded and i broke all the way down so the motor bracket sung around and cut my finger but not too bad but it could have cut it real bad so be careful if you try and get the motor off the regulator

  • @1aauto I'll keep that in mind...thanks!
