Life long fan of Neil Diamond, and the "12 Songs" album this comes from is his best since Hot August Night - BUT - this here is a truly dire performance of one of the top songs on the album! Dull, lifeless, dreary - all the lightness and sparkle on the studio version is totally missing , in its place a mechanical dirge, as if he's on a double dose of Valium. Or just very tired.

Neil Diamond, in all actuality, turned Rosie back to the Heterosexual Realm after giving her a "Diamond in the Rough"in' backstage immediately following this performace.
After he took a swig from his flask of bourbon (which can be seen protruding from his jacket pocket at 1:03 in this video), spit on her back and called her a "wretched beat chick," though, she went back to the same ol' butchy O'Donnell we've all come to loath.
