John Cameron Swayze, of Timex watch fame was the spokesperson for the introduction of the Studebaker Standard. The Standard was a mid year entry at $1935 dollars. This low priced fleet model didn't feature the name Lark anywhere on the car. The front frender scripts simply said "Studebaker". This was about 50 to 100 dollars cheaper than a Chevy II, 50 less than a Ford Falcon. The Plymouth Valiant and Rambler American were from 10 to 50 dollars less expensive.

  • My grandpap says Studebaker was put out of business because they were good cars. That is why the Japs took over. That's what grandpap says.

  • @SweetJaneofGoth naw, gramps was wrong...they stopped making cars because they couldn't make money at it. They had the highest union labor rates at the time. There designs were old too..this cars frame is based on 1953 technology. They couldn't keep up with GM, Ford, Chrysler and AMC which had new cars every other year almost. They were great cars for what they were. They just didn't modernise their style either or have money to advertise. They had many other profitable businesses

  • "My, that's a good looking car"

  • Makes me want to go to my local Studebaker dealer and pick out a Standard model in pea green. That styling and that high value price!

  • indeed.... But note the lady in the back seat saying it's roomy, and then Swayze saying There is more "head room"

Hmmmmmmmm An inadvertent slip? Or a plug... damn, can't get out of the punning line...

  • It IS comfortable and roomy, they are also good looking cars... of course the "Standard" was the elChepo Grande model.

  • Cornball Supreme!

  • She has a really big ass! Watch her run around the car, she almost takes out a fender
