"Hello stranger"-'twas 2 o'clock high, or "Cash in time" at Chinatown, bets made and last hands dealt for...
Brian having disappeared, Donny too-after Gerber, who's pulled a disappearing stunt of her own with or without Cinnamon- depending on who's telling the story. Then Hershey not showing
-of all times to go missing...Or Keith Morris heading south, while Darby's army-every last Blue and Black of them, having pulled out earlier, carried their dead and wounded with them. Indeed- they never left their own behind.
Though I of course, wasn't one of them.
Such were things that never changed: like the lost still looking, the tired still clinging and the hopeless still hoping--praying for the next big thing.
Could've even been funny-what with Madame Wong's starchy set-staring down the Hong Kong crowd. But time was short, memories long and this one lone seditionist who could always find someone with a grudge-if not the LAPD in its stead
What with my penchant for carrying too late, too much contraband... when suddenly
"Hello stranger" she appeared in a wipe... A classic transition, but then this was Chinatown, the one real thing:
Yes, the flash of recognition "Need a ride?" looked me straight in the eyes
"Or should I ask?"
"Just looks that way" I assured her more surly than sure.

  • GERBER IS DEAR FRIEND AND SHE IS A PROFORMER

  • Gerber, your awesome!!!

  • WTF are you babbling about? I know you. We crossed paths in '79 when you were hanging with Mark Baar, Tab (Cynics) and Darby. Mark and Darby got into some raging debate about Communism and Nietzche, and I decided it was time to beat feet when somebody pulled out needles and started to talk about shooting up. No, I'm not a female and I didn't hang with your clique much... more with the Phoenix/Pasadena (45 Grave/VoxPop/BPeople/Human Hands/Monitor) crowd... but I was there...

  • -okee dokee BARNACLE PUSS !

IM NOT MICHELLE BAER! MICHEELE BAER < IS THIS YOUR CRO MAGS

  • Gerber's claim to fame was her nickname based on her baby-fat appearance, and that fact that she was in the right place at the right time. Apparently she never grew up, never got beyond the lifestyle of non-stop partying and mindless consumption of pharmaceuticals, and is slowly dying from the consequences of three decades of physical self-abuse. While I don't wish her ill, I can't say I'm gushing with sympathy over the piss-poor choices she made with her own life...

  • This is Gerber, a decrepit scenester and camp follower of the LA punk scene from the early days. She was a member of a female clique that used to live/congregate at a particular seedy residential hotel in Hollywood that was the haunt of the early first wave of LA punk ca. 1977-78. Other than perhaps a spot singing backup lyrics with some of the local notorious collaborations (Black Randy, Arthur J and the Gold Cups, any pickup band involving Brendan Mullen and/or Geza X) she was not a performer.
