The Doctor was aching from the time war as 9, then he regenerated and since Rose had been there with him he became a better man. He was happy, and joking. Then he lost her. And he became... much darker. It describes that lonliness, that pain of losing the woman he loved, in this track. Murray Gold is a genius!
