Part 4 of 5 of Nutnfancy's Tabletop Review and Philosophy of Use with the Sig P226 pistol:
An outstanding pistol design, the Sig P226 is truly an amazing and well-proven gun. It stacks up quite well against Nutnfancy's standard of 9mm pistol measure, the also-excellent Glock 17. Though accepted reluctantly by the American civilian shooter it became an embraced and beloved handgun as it was proven in the hands of the Navy SEALs and with hundreds of law enforcement agencies. That is because, indeed, it is a world class design offering complete reliability, amazing accuracy, toughness, excellent firepower, outstanding ergonomics, and a superb trigger. Many liken the Sig P226 to a Swiss Watch and thats a fair comparison; it is a mechanically efficient and beautiful design. But how does it stack against the Glock 17? Truth be told (and it is here), the Glock holds edges in absolute durability, weight (big advantage at 8 oz), simplicity of operation and parts, firepower, and price but in some cases the advantage is slight. However Nutnfancy maintains both are near equals in terms of reliability, accuracy, ergonomics (very subjective for everyone), and track record. But the Sig for many holds an endearing attraction that is hard to define and quantify. You have to shoot and hold one to understand it. It inspires confidencethat most critical attribute needed for effective combat handgunnery. And for many, that confidence is the tie breaker that makes the Sig their preferred choice in defensive/offensive handguns. It is often called the worlds best pistol.

Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 10 out of 10

CORRECTIONS: At 11:17 I meant to say dedicated hammer drop, not slide drop
At 11:45 I meant to say fan the hammer back. At 2:30 in the morning sometimes the terminology interchanges :-) Also for an unloaded table top exercise you see me dropping the cocked hammer with thumb, something I'm good at after many years. However with your Sig I rec. always using a the hammer drop lever.

  • excuse me but at 5:50 did you just say "when I was a security police officer,in the air force ..... back at Fairchild AFB"? are you saying you were in security forces?

I like the vid, but the comparison between the sig and glock is off, it should be the sig and the colt double eagle, even though they are different calibers, there is more in common. Not all roads lead back to glocks. about the comment about the AFSC, I need to know.

  • @MOAONAABE He's talking about Andrew P. Brown, who shot and killed a man on a shooting rampage (5 killed, 23 wounded) at Fairchild AFB.. --- Veri

  • couldnt bring myself to watch the video but im going to make a educated guess that in the end of this dribble the glock 17 like always comes out ahead. this guy could compare the g17 to anything and suprise somehow the glock is better.

  • @beefyMaK He carries a Keltec every day. There goes your theory. -- Veri

  • With all "due" respect, LEO's can be just as negligent with trigger discipline as anyone else. Negligent discharges by LEO's occur at an alarming rate. Being an LEO does not automatically mean you are a better gun handler than someone who is not. I'm sure Nutn would agree with not putting your finger on the trigger. He is also aware of how people act under pressure. Also a P226 is DA/SA, not DAO.

  • @nutnfancy You talked about how you should do tap, rack, bang when you get a misfire of some sort, but what about the chance of hang fire? A tactical situation is one thing, but what about at the range? Thanks a lot for your response, a fledgling pistol shooter and TNPer.

  • I have owned and shot alot of handguns. People who own the Sig 226 rank it in the legendary status of the 1911 and Glock pistol. I cant wait until I can shoot a Sig 226.

  • Awesome video.

I read that other dry firing drills that you could do is putting a dime on the front sight and then repeatedly work the dao in the "just out of the waist holster" position and then in the "arms fully extended" position while keeping the dime in place.

  • P250 is DAO

  • @beefyMaK The word is drivel, actually. Dribble is something that happens on your other end.

  • I like the "guts" of the Sig.

  • @GamePath i completely agree with you thats why in my original comment i said its HIS " Standard handgun". obviously its an opinion. if youve watched any of his videos i cant count how many times you will hear him say "Your milage may vary". a review video is an opinionated product based on the reviewers experience with the item and other items. and btw im in the military and let me say just cause the military uses it doesnt make it an industry standard lol. believe me.

  • @southgarebelec05 It could be debated what the standard handgun is, so his standard is simply an opinion. I could go and say that the Beretta 92fs is the standard handgun, just because our military's infantrymen carry it.

  • @GamePath when he bases most of his review comparisons off of a single weapon it gives you a reference standard. Thats why he says the Glock 17 is his " Standard Handgun". if in every video he was comparing each weapon to a different one the viewer wouldnt be able to reference other videos to each other. also the aver viewer my get lost because they might not have shot or handle various different handgun, however the Glock 17 is one of if not the most common 9mm variant.

  • @nutnfancy Ya... that still doesn't disprove his theory. It gets a little old when there's a glock in every video, and then says oh glock is better! It's not very helpful.
