    I am the guy playing that solo. Yes, I growl sometimes, but as an effect. It kinda sounds like growling, but on most of this solo, I am not. Maybe a little up the top end of the horn. Hawkins used to growl, and so did Ike Quebec and Webster and Lockjaw Davis. It is an effect and should not be overused though. I dig players that growl and guys that never do, like Getz.
