UDS BBQ Smokers Explained. I forgot to mention that these are extremely efficient cookers and if you close all vents it will extinguish the coals and you can use whats left on your next smoke, as you saw the coals left in the one. With just a slight turn on the ball valve it will change your cooking temps up or down, its like a vacuum. Also these give a unique flavor because the meat juices drip down onto the fire and it smokes back up to the meat. These are the easiest cookers other than electric which cant give you a real BBQ flavor. Trust me build one of these and you will love it!

  • Can you give me the measurement of the drum needed to fit the weber lid

  • @daveob94513

    22 & 7/8" inches from outside edges

  • Nice! I just built one myself. I did 2 beer can chickens the other day well because of the cans i didnt turn them at all and after 4 hours some of the chicken was still pink! I need to tweak to control my temps. I plan on building more of them and perfecting my cookouts.

  • @TheJonAlexander I dont turn mine, you sure the pink wasnt because it was smoked? it turns meat pink, you have to use thermometer to check meats on the smoker and one for smoker temp.

  • Can a weed burner take off the red liner?

  • @TheBlackDog73

Not from what I have heard, but I have been hearing now the if you burn it out real good its ok to leave the liner in because it will never burn that hot smoking in it.

  • @pandmonium2k7 Yes I need to get a thermometer to help determine the exact heat. My drum just needs some tweaking. Thanks for the reply. I work in foods so drums I can actually get pretty cheap and I plan on doing more, I just need some experimenting with my first one.

  • Nicely done Gary!

  • @1timby

Lump is harder to control the temps but as far as the flavor I cant really say I could taste a difference when using it.I would rather use lump for sure but it gave me a hard time with the temps so I said ill use briquettes from now on.

  • Does lump work better or make the BBQ taste better?

    Good Vid.....
