actually tug of war is the best game, dont stop playing it! it is the only way to teach the dog the right thing to do. the only mistake u did is that u didnt know what u were doing lol. tug of war is teaching the dog how 2 drop things and how 2 wait for things & that giving smth up does not mean he isnt going to get it back again. u just have 2 study a little bit more about dogs, cesar is ok but it took him 8 minutes because he's using human language,try clicker training, it'll take you 3 min :)

introduction of the toy is bad. you are teasing him with it instead of introducing it to him. what i do is i use clicker training, i hold the toy and let the dog sniff it, then touch it and then i click when he lets me have it and is not interested in it, then i introduce it again and again, then i teach "drop it" with that new toy using clicker training and eventually I click when he drops it and leaves it for me to take it. it all can take 3 minutes if you know what you're doing :)
