We call him "Geoffery". This is a Metro Models 00 gauge London Underground train that runs around a plate rail in our kitchen. The previous owners of the house used to display china plates up there, but that's boring. So to be a bit different we got some 00 gauge track, I built a power supply and I bought one of John's excellent little Metro Models trains.

The signs above the track are genuine old London Underground enamel signs from refurbished stations.

Although we live far from London, I spent my formative years there, and my late Father did some work as a power supply engineer on the Underground, so it holds some memories for me.

Enjoy.

  • Geoffry is more overground I think, and a bit short to

  • @ianbillericay I'll have to work on a subterranean kitchen, then. Not sure what my wife would think of living in a cave....

  • Very Nice, Very Cool.

Were did you get the tube trains from?

Mini Cooper Stencil <<can you please comment my stencil

  • A small company called Metro Models who advertise on the web. I couldn't believe that Hamleys or Hornby didn't make them, since the tube is such an icon of London. When I called the product manager at Hornby he told me without a shred of irony "You must be the 90th person I've told this month: there's no demand for them". Hey ho.

  • Thats really cool, but I must ask are you married?

  • Thank you for your carefully disguised proposal (I trust you were on bended knee as you typed), but I must decline as I am already very happily married and have been so for many years. And hopefully many more.

    :-)

PS: My wife thinks that our "alternative decor" is cool too, so you're in good company.
