The question is good!! Why to follow the guy's line on focus??? We can't see him from this angle. This is not correct! Or what about the editing?? It's unimportant to focus on him. It's maybe hard to edit correctly if you have an other shot on him.
Wait... why would you pull focus to the guy in the FG when he says his line? He's facing away from the camera the entire time. For face to face I'd probably cut between over-the-shoulder shots when I really want to bring attention to the other person... guess that's just a matter of style though
