Here, I'm trying Yolngu syncopation with tapping my finger as Yolngu players doing in NE Arnhemland. The sound and rhythm is still too far from theirs but I believe someday it will be accomplished. (only the technical sides, of course)
Some people don't like to play traditional style to show their respect for Yolngu culture back ground, but I think it's OK if we maintain a humble attitude to the original source. And above all, trying to copy something is so natural when we've seen beautiful things !

Sound touches heart and heart makes sound.

Cheers,

Ryohei

  • As you say we can't play like yolngu... but it's a good source of inspiration.
