Just a couple of quick holiday stories that i was told & how they show some people's complete lack of appreciation of where they are.

It doesn't take imagination or intelligence to have a sense of wonder. So it really is a wonder how come some people don't seem to have one?!

Going to Key West wit my mother and sister was a lot like that. I just wanted to lie on the beach sleeping and enjoy just that when all they wanted to do was get back to the resort and get ready for dinner...

When I first drove West I stopped in the Black Hills of South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore. I hobbled on crutches all the way from the parking lot to where you can see it, and spent some time there. I saw a German tourist arrive, say, "Ja, so?" turn around, and walk away...

For some people going on holiday seems to be all about eating & drinking. I've never really understood that myself.

I'm afraid to say that your 2nd paragraph does not surprise me at all, unfortunately :)

Andy, I know what you mean. I live in the North of Glasgow and we are priveliged enough to be able to see the beginnings of the western highlands from here. It's also possible to see some of the islands of Scotland on a clear day. I never take it for granted, to me I am blessed to be able to wake up every day and be allowed to see these scenes. Great subject Andy.

i think i would have taken my chances & asked to be let out of the car. Fancy going all that way & not seeing & experiencing a sight like that properly :)

I can't even imagine how disappointed the people were not to get to take some time to look at something as beautiful as the Grand Canyon!

I've heard about extending the cycle path. Personally i hope they don't do it. You can cycle along the beach anyway, i've done it before.

As you say, if that happens, the secret will be out .

Those sunglasses are over 8 years old & still going strong. I bought them in Florida & i'm very attached to them.

I realise that i'm lucky to live by the sea. I moved here over 20 years ago & would hate to leave. Unless that was to somewhere else near to the sea :)
