Paul Gallico's "The Snow goose" story was first published in The Saturday Evening Post in 1940 and won the O. Henry award in 1941. He lived long enough to see his timeless short story come to life. Well directed and acted, this made for TV movie won a Golden Globe award and Jenny Agutter was awarded an Emmy for her performance. The movie was also Emmy nominated in 8 other categories.
Heartfelt and wonderfully done movie about a lonely man Philip Rhayadar (Richard Harris) who helps local girl Frith (Jenny Agutter) rescue a wounded goose from hunters. Enjoy.

  • Thank you so much for putting this up. I passed this on to my Dad for his 50th Birthday, he hadn't seen it since he was a kid and always spoke nastolgically about it,and how he couldn't find it since. Made his day to watch it again finally.

  • @SlvrScreen7 I'm glad your father enjoyed it! A wonderful story...

  • Thrilled to find this on Youtube. Thanks so much for posting it. I first read the book, at the age of 10 in 1960 - a birthday gift from my father, who, ironically, shot geese and ducks in winter. He was also a pilot in the RAF in WW2 but was not at Dunkirk. I cried my young heart out at the time. And this is going to make me cry when I finish watching, I know.

  • wow!!!!!! a million thanks for this upload. i really liked the book , i hope this is equally good at least

  • One of my most favourite childhood stories. Thank you for sharing :)

  • Thanks for posting this. I remember watching it when was first broadcast.

  • A very big thnak you for submitting this video of the Snow Goose. I have been searching for it, for years. Jenny Agutter doesn't have a copy and Hallmark are refusing to release it for sale, for some obscure reason. Do you have access to a DVD or VCR tape which I could buy of you? Again, many thanks

  • Paul Gallico is one of my favorite writers, and Richard Harris absolutely my favorite actor of all time. It's wonderful to know that this film holds a special place in the heart of so many other people too. Thank you so much for posting it. As long as it is here, I'll make it a new tradition to watch it every year - maybe at the Thanksgiving holiday, as it has all things to be thankful for... grace...beauty...courage -- timeless values, a perfect film.

  • Does anyone know where to get the soundtrack?

  • Where can I get copies of either the Movie & or the story on CD.

You deserve a Noble Prize for putting this movie up.

I first saw it back in 1982 on PBS.

    I cried for a week.

I went in search for it on video, then dvd. It is unavailable; and that is a crime.

Finally, after almost 30 years I can see it again.

I did not think it would effect me as much since I have seen it already.

Boy was I wrong! I cried so much I created a puddle in my bedroom.

    This is my favorite film.
