@MrSitar18 All political guff aside there was never a more effective and professional military machine like the Wehrmacht. Its good to see the children of once mortal enemies in modern times doing more constructive tasks like trying to drink one another under the table.

@MrSitar18 It was a very bad idea. A unarmed populous has no method to remove a tyrannical government, but in the end that is what hitler wanted. If Rommel had sided with like minded national heros like Oster and later Galland; then issuing challenges for the removal of nazism with support from an armed citizenry, the insane ruling minority could have been put down in short order. If you live in a disarmed population get out while you still can.

@TheVinoThunderbird yeah thats about law. I was trying to tell that lots of them didnt believe in nacism.
And yes, maybe it would be better to be army ordered like you said, allthough hitlers idea about banning weapons on streets (or something like this) wasn't such a bad idea.
But still...The Wermacht was one of the greatest armies of all times. :)

@MrSitar18 Here here! The Wehrmacht weren't even allowed to vote or belong to a political party without sanction. Sucks that Oster didn't just shoot hitler in plain sight and order the army to put down the nazis. The world works better when the crazy people are dead.

not ALL german soldiers during WWII were nazis. It could be said that they were used by leaders. Just sayin.
But still...they were one of the greates military forces of all times. Such discipline can not be found in many forces even today! :)
