@Dsaha10 You might be an experienced listener as you say, but it is obvious that these "young kids" (obviously college students at the time) have far more training than you, so perhaps their experience surpasses listening, to training - and having the courage and skill to perform in front of their peers. I don't know them, so am unbiased, but as a performer and a composer, I think they've done an awesome job. Kudos.
It is sad to see the art of Indian Classical music brought down to such a low level. The modern mentality of young kids may think its "funky" and cool, but I am sorry to say that this is a complete ruin of Indian culture, its music, and beauty in the eyes of experienced listeners. These college students through their hindustani/ carnatic jugalbandi are presenting the wrong image our traditional and highly developed music to western audiences and I could not be more disappointed.
