Srikar's Upanayanam (sacred thread ceremony)

An Upanayanam is a Hindu Sanskar, rite-of-passage ritual, where a young boy is introduced to manhood. The young boy Srikar is Gayathri's cousin. He was born and raised in the U.S. and travels back to Tamil Nadu often with his parents. His father sits with him during the ritual and you can see his mother, Geetha, standing behind them both. This is an incredibly important part of a young boy's life.
