After his parents get divorced, and he loses his beloved mother to a drunk driver, 15-year-old Charley goes to live in a lonely seaside town with his overly strict, military-man father. During one grim Christmas break, he finds comfort in the companionship of 29-year-old Eban, a schoolteacher home visiting his folks.

When Eban and Charley's friendship deepens into intimacy, both guys' families condemn it and threaten to call the police. With tensions high, and the stakes even higher, Eban and Charley face the most dangerous decision of all.

I think it's good they made a movie like this..

    It's not THAT strange.

Yeah wow, he's almost twice his age

    but it could be worse.

I know a guy that was 15 and had a relationship with his 46 year old teacher, now that's pretty sick.

    This movie seems sweet.

It is the adults responsibility to not give in. When I was 15 I thought I was in love with my nearly twice my age art teacher. I even had a dislike for his wife. I would day dream about the two of us doing not so innocent things. Now that I am 21, when I look back at that time, I can't help but think "What the fuck was I thinking" and how horrible I would feel now if my art teacher and I end up in a relationship.

Teenagers are young, stupid & they think they know what they want. But they DON'T.

I can't say for anyone else, but I don't date anyone younger than 23 (18 - 22 if I like them and they are mature); never anyone 17 or younger. To each his own.

I saw this movie a few years ago, I was really conflicted.

    Approaching a minor is wrong,

however the minor's home life was so bad, he was better off leaving.

    .

    a difficult movie.

@alexyomero76 I know everyone has their own point of view. I respect you for stating yours. However, I do not feel I am confused about the difference between morals and legality. You may be mature at the age of 17 but in alot of places, not all, you are still considered a child until you turn 18 years old. As far as morals I feel if an adult person has to sleep with a child, someone under the age of 18. That person has some low awful morals. Just sleep with someone of age period.

It seems to me u confuse morals with legality! Adulthood is something that comes ouit of maturity and conscience, it can't be grantede by an 18th birthday party! And if u keep on calling a 17 yr old a child , then u're just perpetuating the status quo!
